Valerie sat in her cabin, her legs folded under her. She had been here for a few months now and she had adjusted. Gone were the heavy dresses of her time. Now, she wore a pair of denim breeches- jeans and a lace top. Valerie's curly hair was pulled into a braid and she felt content. Not happy, never happy here, but content. She was free from her parent's and brother's thumb. She was able to run like she wanted, wear what she wanted, but the person she loved was not here. And, she supposed that was why this place wasn't Heaven. Because, Adam wasn't here.
Sighing, she opened up her leather bound journal, reading back at the days when she had been unaware that anything bad would happen. Unaware that her life would end with a rope. Unaware that she would witness her true love being murdered by a bastard she was ashamed to share blood with.
Hearing a knock at her door, Valerie frowned. Often, when people were new, it was like they were attracted to her door. Maybe because she often placed herself as mother of the newer arrivals. But, that didn't mean she was in the mood today.
As Valerie opened the door, she wasn't prepared for who stood behind her. She could've sworn her heart stopped along with her breathing. Her grey eyes were wide in shock and Valerie could feel her head spinning.
"Adam?!"
